Since Shan began teaching over 15 years ago, his lessons have become known as THE way for adults to learn jazz piano in London and all over the world with his live online lessons. Shan is passionate about teaching and guarantees that "This will be like nothing you've done before!" even if you've had jazz lessons. Lessons are always practical, effective and fun, giving students the ideal environment to get into the habit of thinking and practicing like a jazz musician.
Shan is a jazz specialist whose unique teaching style is concerned with "musical ingredients" i.e. learning how music works rather than playing one piece after another without musical understanding. Shan believes that learning music as a language is the key to musical fluency and improvisation. He teaches a system which is not found in most books or courses and helps the student to understand how jazz musicians really play. The approach used in lessons addresses the needs of each particular student based on the culmination of over 15 years of teaching experience and his studies under one of the world's leading jazz musicians. Students range from beginners to performers, composers and teachers.
