Deryn Cullen is a skilled and experienced music educator. She obtained a Performers Licentiate in Music from the University of Stellenbosch and a Bachelor of Music (Honours) from the University of Cape Town, where she studied cello and piano under world class teachers Magdalena Roux and John Antoniadis. She has been teaching cello, piano and music theory for 12 years and also works with the Harrogate Music Centre as Lower Strings Coach.
Deryn also has a wealth of professional playing experience to draw upon. She has played in numerous orchestras including the South African National Chamber Orchestra, the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and the National Musicians Symphony Orchestra. She also has extensive solo, chamber and session experience and composes and records music for cello and electronica alongside her husband and musical partner, Dan Cullen.
